Hausgemachte Musik

And even more. Thank you Kerstin for inspiring me, without you I wouldn't even search for that. But now I see I did better stuff 8 years ago than I do now... and this makes me reconsider a lot. It seems I fell asleep a long time ago and it's time to wake up.

Zitat:Behold my attempt on heavy metal, or at least what I thought to be so...

Well, that's definitely...interesting. Blink
It reminds me of something, but I can't remember the title at the moment.
You've got some nice skills on the violin. No sarcasm. Controlled chaos is very different from torturing an instrument without skills.
And the soundtrack is really impressive. I will listen to it in a painting session.

Zitat:Thank you Kerstin for inspiring me,
Wow. I feel honored. I can't imagine being an inspiration to anybody. Unsure
My flaws are so painfully obvious to me that it numbs me. I even fail at attempts of improvement.
And you are a far better composer than I am. No fishing for compliments, I mean it.

Zitat:But now I see I did better stuff 8 years ago than I do now...
Same here. I got bored with my music. It's always ends up as the just same catchy stuff. Your music has much more complexity and depth than mine.
But it's even worse with my drawing skills. I just stopped a few years ago, and now I can't draw without fucking up the proportions.
I push myself at the moment to paint and make music, but I end up hating the results.
It doesn't feel authentic. Maybe I can at least get some practice out of it.

Precisely, back then I could phrase but I couldn't hit correct pitches. So it wasn't "controlled chaos" but rather controlling one aspect and allowing chaos in another Big Grin

Zitat:I can't imagine being an inspiration to anybody.
You don't have to imagine that, it's enough if it works on other people Big Grin

Zitat:My flaws are so painfully obvious to me that it numbs me. I even fail at attempts of improvement.
As the authors we always hear more than the audience. There's no single piece where I did everything right. It's only bad if we leave these flaws be - in the end nobody else can fix them.

You need a point. You always need to know what you're writing or painting about. I did various music because people and events I wrote for differed from each other. I had a friend who visited China, I used pentatonics for him. I had a trip to Jerusalem, I did Jewish scale (or kind of). I attended a kayak flow, all sound simulates water. If you made a space level where things fly in loop, there's nothing wrong with looped electronic soundtrack as long as it fits the intention. I liked this result, if you don't like it and hear something is missing, then it doesn't have to mean the idea is wrong, but maybe the execution just needs a fix. Sometimes I didn't like what I made but then one slight change of instrument could make a big difference and render this tune better.

Hm. Nachdenken

Not sure if it's too convoluted.
I have a general idea about the lyrics, but I'm still struggling.
But I also know that I usually burst with ideas when I'm on vacation.

I blame music why I never get anything done. Grr
Whenever I'm working on something else, a melody pops into my mind, and I immediately have to stop whatever I'm doing to write it down. Wehe du!

Ahh... Sorry for that - I listen too carefully until I forget to say a word. Not at all convoluted, this is in fact among the best mixed of yours.
You know - recently I started to dig really deeper in these DAWs and I realized half of my problems were NOT in composition but in the mixing.
Possibly that's the key, at least partially also for you... gotta go crazy on envelopes, panning, equalizers, surround and stuff Big Grin

I'm writing a techno. Because I don't have a single one and I dare to call myself a DJ...
Had this on my mind for at least 4 years but somehow never found time to notate it.
A totally raw sketch, a single instrument with default FX. Possibly I will make it better.

There's potential in it. Did you work on it any further?
In case you plan to perform it live, you might want to purchase these... Hrhr

Zitat: gotta go crazy on envelopes, panning, equalizers, surround and stuff Big Grin

Some people really go crazy with the filters and effects, and it sometimes appears to me more like showing off with technical skills. Huh?
I already use quite a lot of instruments. So I should keep it simpler on the FX side, otherwise it might end up being too confusing. Nachdenken

Mpf, I have 27 unfinished projects. But they are all boring, don't resonate with me any longer, or I'm stuck with them. Facepalm
I throw away 90% of my sketches and artworks, because I'm not pleased with them, either.
But once I created a music project folder, it just keeps staring at me to finish it, making me feel like a slob and failure. Wehe du!
Maybe it's just a natural part of any creative process to produce a lot of boring, weird crap. Hrhr
Or like we say at work: We've learned a new way how it's NOT supposed to be done.

I stopped working on this about two years ago, and I just don't know where to take it from here. Confused
Sprites

Maybe I should just simply delete these projects, too. And make space for new stuff. Nachdenken
Or maybe I should make a mix of my unfinished stuff, so it doesn't feel like throwing away all the work for nothing.

Where do you get those gifs from? No I didn't work further, the priority is set to the song. THAT song Ugly
I don't recall a techno with overdone effects, I think the genre's about them, even for sake of pure transitions.

Intended or not, "Sprites" sound like electro variant of Scarborough Fair. Altered melody yet similar character.
This could be useful as a background for a celtic project where you don't wanna quote but still bring the mood.

We got a lot of halted stuff but the right approach is to find WHAT should go somewhere, where, and what shouldn't.
Few of my things I found nice but they weren't. Few I found boring or "expired" but now I see them the best I had.

Making a "mix" can be great for noticing relation between your themes you didn't presume to work together.
And I don't think you should delete anything. If it's worth deletion, history will delete it anyway, hehe Smile

Zitat:And I don't think you should delete anything.

I know the last example is a decent composition, but I just don't like it any longer. Unsure
It's about a nonexistent person who I thought was real, and nowadays it reminds me of my stupidity and naivety at the time.
Don't ask, it doesn't make any sense.

Z.B. eines der vielen unvollenendeten Projekte (erste Version 2007 [Bild: schwitz.gif] ) fertig machen.

"Lucifuga" aka "Zum Glück sind alles Synthesizer, der Harpist würde mich sonst töten."

ALL THE INSTRUMENTS!!!!

Achtung, Kopfhörer-unfreundlicher Start. Sollte ich vielleicht noch ändern. Blink

Do I hear the hidden TR topic? Cool
The ending is very climatic, it should have a parallel background track.
So for instance action fragment is used for boss fight and then transits to peace.
I wish I was that good at percussion, I never know what beats to apply Hrhr
