Mozartkugeln (English Version)
by Luke

Since 1890, Mozartkugeln (engl.: "Mozart balls") are beeing made in Austria. Characteristic of them is most of all the high content of marzipan (almond paste).

W. A. Mozart, after whom these traditional Austrian sweets are named, was one of the most prominent composers of classical music.

Ingredients:
200g nut nougat
200g raw marzipan
2 tsp. cherry-grog
10g minced pistachios
100g sugar powder
1 bar of chocolate
toothpicks

First of all, cut the nougat into small pieces, form them to balls and chill them afterwards. That is important, because they would melt away otherwise.

Mix the marzipan with the cherry-grog and the minced pistachios and fold in the sugar powder. Form everything into an about two finger broad roll and cut it into as many pieces as there are nougat balls.

Flatten the marzipan pieces on a with sugar powder sprinkled board and put one nougat ball on each.

Then wrap the nougat balls in the marzipan and form balls again.

Lastly, melt the chocolate, dip the balls with the help of a toothpick into it and let them dry again. To cover the holes, strew a few roughly minced pistachios over them.

Enjoy!
