Vor ein paar Jahren hatte ich die Möglichkeit, selbst Peru zu besuchen. Wie ihr sicher wisst, war Peru bereits öfter ein Schauplatz in den Tomb Raider-Spielen. Nicht nur das – Tomb Raider nahm sogar in Peru seinen Anfang, damals mit Tomb Raider 1, als Lara sich ihren Weg in die Kavernen bahnte (ihr erinnert euch: die herausstürmenden Wölfe!).

Nun, Wölfe oder gar ein T-Rex sind mir auf meiner Reise nicht begegnet, aber die ein oder andere Gemeinsamkeit ist mir doch aufgefallen. Auf dieser Seite möchte ich euch einen kleinen Vergleich präsentieren.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to visit Peru myself. As you surely know, Peru is one of the locations of the Tomb Raider games. Not only this - Tomb Raider even started in Peru, back then with Tomb Raider 1, where Lara fought her way into the caverns (you remember: the wolves coming out!).

Well, I didn't meet any wolves or a T-Rex on my journey, but I noticed one or another similarity. On this page I would like to present you a little comparison.

Nicht nur Lara muss sich teils gefährliche Wege bahnen, um die Geheimnisse der verlorenen Inka-Kultur zu erforschen, sondern auch Besucher der legendären Stadt Machu Picchu.

Not only Lara has to pave her way through dangerous passages to explore the secrets of the lost Inca culture, but also the visitors of the legendary city Machu Picchu.

Ist man erstmal ganz oben, bietet sich ein herrlicher Blick über die Anden.

Once you're up on top, you get an amazing view over the Andes.

Ganz Peru und Bolivien sind übersät mit Ruinen, die vermuten lassen, welch mächtige Zivilisation hier einst bestand.

All over Peru and Bolivia you can find ruines, which still showcase what a mighty civilisation once existed there.

Die Inka hatten nicht nur beeindruckende Kenntnisse über Geometrie und Astronomie, sondern auch über Architektur. Ein ausgeklügeltes Bewässerungssystem ist nur eins von vielen Beispielen dafür.

The Inca not only had impressive knowledge about geometry and astrology, but also about architecture. A clever watering system is just one example of many.

Außerdem hinterließen die Inka unzählige Keramiken und Werke aus Gold. Gold, das ihnen zum Verhängnis wurde und die europäischen Inquisitoren anlockte.

Furthermore, the Inca left numerous ceramics and objects made of gold. Gold that caused their doom because it waked the attention of the European inquisitors.

Das Inka-Gold wurde teilweise eingeschmolzen und für den Bau von Kirchen verwendet.

The Inca gold was partially melted and used to build churches.

In den Tälern findet man auf der Durchreise viele kleine Dörfer, die auf den Fundamenten der Ruinen erbaut wurden. Wenn man genau hinsieht, kann man Teile der alten Mauern erkennen.

In the valleys you can find many small towns that have been built upon the fundaments of ruins. If you look carefully, you can see parts of the walls.

Für Lara ging es nun erstmal per Motorrad weiter durch die Täler. Für uns mit der Andenbahn.

From here on, Lara continued her journey with a motorbike. We took the railway.
